NHR-ACOUSTICS-01:2025 (version 1.3) is the international guideline for acoustic comfort and quiet in hotels, drafted by KGI Groep (Kenniscentrum Geluidsisolatie). The guideline defines two performance comfort classes and is the standard for hotel acoustics.

Product-neutral: does not prescribe specific materials or systems. Performance-based: defines measurable requirements in decibels. Internationally applicable: suitable for every type of hotel, worldwide. Two classes: A (premium) and B (standard), so every hotel can choose a fitting ambition level.
Content: what is assessed?
Sound insulation between hotel rooms (airborne and impact noise). Sound insulation between rooms and corridors or common areas. Installation noise in rooms (AC, ventilation, lift, water pipes). Façade insulation against environmental noise (traffic, hospitality, aircraft). Reverberation time in common areas (lobby, restaurant, meeting rooms).

Inclusion in specifications and Programmes of Requirements for hotel new construction and renovation. Brand standards for hotel chains. Tender specifications. Contract appendices for hotel management agreements. Quality assurance at handover via measurements compliant with the guideline.
